Stand Up Paddle Boarding: Eastbourne - Spray Wind Direction: light onshore to nothing Wind Stength: very light Surf / Sea State: flat with small swell rolling Air Temperature: toasty Sea Temperature: ok Weather: sunny and dry Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Took the eldest two kids to the evening kids club session at Spray to
windsurf. Got them all organised and Rich let me borrow a big ass 11' +
Starboard SUP to join them on the water and to help keep an eye on them.
Had quite a giggle in a 'kayaking for people with haemeroids' kinda way but
thoroughly enjoyed the weather and the ability to be out there with the
kids while they got on with their own windsurfing apprenticeship.
To be fair, the wind dropped to nothing and Rich called it right to get the
kids on the SUP's ... so I gave Meg mine and went and helped unpack their
veritable toybox for the rest of the kids.
There was some small swell as the tide dropped, so as ankle biter waves
lapped up the beach, they were accompanied by shrieking kids on massive SUP
boards surfing with the biggest smiles i've seen in a while.
Rich even grabbed a couple of body boards but it looked harder for them to
catch waves on these.
By the looks of it all the kids ended their session properly stoked, and I
can confirm that my two were very pleased with themselves, despite initial
reservations about going on the sea in their first session.
Excellent work from Rich and Olly with the kids ..... and cheers for the
loan of the SUP .... my kids reckoned I looked a bit '*ay' on it but it did
exactly what I wanted it to do ... got me on the water while my kids were
playing out there.
Rating represents quality of the session from a family perspective, rather
than how awesome I was on the SUP ;-)
